Cultural Intelligence (CI) is the ability to understand and guide how we feel, think, and act when engaging in multicultural situations and communicating with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds



Cultivating Culturally Intelligent (or CI) behaviors in individuals and across organizations is essential to sustaining healthy workplace environments.
CITC's Culturally Intelligent model is an original, research-based and data-informed approach to fostering organizational change. Culture, broadly defined, incorporates not just race, ethnic heritage, and nationality, but also age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, and background. CI captures capabilities contained within emotional intelligence (EI) for behavioral adaptation across cultures. Because EI often is culturally bound, CI becomes essential in helping diverse teams succeed.
We believe our CI Model promotes both personal and organizational integration, which allows individuals to lead from a sense of wholeness so they can communicate, collaborate, and achieve common goals with each other. If every member of an organization strives to be an integrated person by increasing their CI, they will collectively co-create a workplace that is known for its cultural humility and human-centeredness. This integration is highlighted by the presence of compassionate leaders, empathetic managers, and curious contributors.

CITC facilitators guide participants in increasing Cultural Openness, Awareness, and Responsiveness. Through our multifaceted facilitations, individuals receive a holistic approach to understanding themselves so they can respond insightfully to people from new and diverse cultures with socio-emotional intelligence. These capabilities are guided by the leadership skills of curiosity, empathy, and compassion.
Since people learn by doing, we equip participants with self-reflection tools and practical solutions for action-oriented change. By understanding ourselves, we can engage with others more compassionately.
